GALLERY DESCRIPTION
The Gallery is located on the lower end of historic Canyon Road in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Number 530, on the south side of the road, was for nearly 300 years a farm house with an enclosed goat-yard, views of Lone Peak and Mount Baldy off to the north, and small walled corals. Now the “goat doors” still allow children to move between the shady central “plaza-court” and the upper exhibit spaces, and the thick adobe walls protect arts patrons from the summer heat.
Adobe walls, viga and latilla ceilings, still form the two primary structures of the gallery. Entry is gained under the street arch and through the historic gates. The gently rolling and rounded softness of the spaces work as stage sets for the artworks within. The aesthetic of the traditional wavy plastered architectural forms, outdoor and in, works in complimentary contrast to the world-class canvases, minimalist gesture drawings and the abstract color splashes of some of the worlds best contemporary artists.
